Leadership Development Program
The Leadership Development Program is a way for freshmen students to get involved with Student Government at UK as soon as they come to campus. LDP consists of freshmen who want to be actively involved on campus and who seek to be involved through their senior year here. LDP will connect students with other campus organizations and be offered opportunities to speak to administrators, and work with SGA as well. LDP is advised by the Student Body Vice-President.
The goals of the Leadership Development Program are to:
-
Build future leaders for the University of Kentucky
-
Facilitate freshmen to learn about the UK Student Government Association
-
Allow opportunities for freshmen to work with members of various campus organizations
-
Give students a chance to gain valuable leadership skills to use throughout their time at UK
-
Develop a group of students that the administration of the Unviersity can look to as a representative population of UK freshmen
-
Assist a transition into the University through a mentor/mentee system where LDP members are paired with older SGA members
-
Help freshmen to get involved from the moment they set foot on campus
Applications and interviews for the program will take place at the beginning of the fall 2009 school year and applications will be made available in late summer.
