Student Organization Funding Grants    

UKSGA is proud to offer funding to registered student organizations through Student Organization Funding Grants. Organizations may apply for and receive a combined maximum total of $2,000 per fiscal year*. Please see the descriptions below to determine if your organization is eligible for these grants.​

To be eligible for reimbursement the Student Organization must be approved by the UKSGA A&R Committee BEFORE purchasing items. The A&R Committee suggests submitting your application three weeks in advance of when you need to purchase items.

Reimbursement Policy

Student Government funds organizations by reimbursement only. All receipts must be submitted to the SGA office manager within 30 days of the approved event, project, or purchase. If receipts are not turned in within the 30 day window, the funding will be forfeited. Groups may apply for multiple grants to reach a combined maximum total of $2,000 per fiscal year (July 2026 - June 2027).

Prohibited Items

Student Government will not provide funding for the following items: subscriptions, taxes, management or consulting fees, organizational membership dues, personal gifts/t-shirts/donations/contributions that reach a monetary value of higher than fifteen (15) dollars per unit, financial aid or academic scholarships, expenses incurred prior to UKSGA approval, prizes, awards, trophies, grants which provide direct wages/stipends/other cash compensation to another University of Kentucky student for goods or services provided to a student organization.

Approval Process

All funding requests are considered at Senate Committee meetings. During the academic year, Senate Committees meet every other week on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM. Organizations will be notified at least 24 hours in advance when their funding request is scheduled to be considered and voted on by committee. All committee meetings are open to the public, and organizations are invited, but not required, to send representatives to these meetings to speak on their funding request. 

 

Funding requests will be primarily considered by the Appropriations and Revenue Committee. In some cases, depending on the volume of requests or other circumstances, funding requests may be considered by the Academic Affairs Committee. Organizations will be notified in advance which committee is considering their request along with the meeting location.

 

Following consideration and a vote by committee, organizations will be notified of the status of their request. The next steps for the organization to take to receive their funding will also be communicated at this time.
