Leadership Statement:

At the center of leadership is service. Every member of UK’s Student Government Association has taken on a role––whether it be executive, legislative, or judicial––with the intention to improve the lives of peers across our campus. Every day, we strive to be an organization for students and for students. In holding ourselves accountable to our peers, earring their trust through effective action, and leading with principle, we thrive as an organization.

About:

Carter Franklin is a senior pursuing dual degrees in International Studies and Spanish and a minor in Political Science at the University of Kentucky. Since April 2026, she has served as Student Body Vice President. However, Carter began her tenure with the Student Government Association as the Director of Civic Engagement, promoting voting resources and encouraging civic participation among her peers. Valuing integrity and service, she is grateful for the opportunity to represent students across campus.

Carter is a Louisville native and deeply involved at the University of Kentucky. She is a Fellow at the Gaines Center for the Humanities and a member of the Lewis Honors College, where she pursues interdisciplinary research and scholarly development. Reflecting her passion for leadership, Carter previously held executive roles in her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. This year, she is thrilled to work alongside SGA’s Executive Branch and continue delivering results for students.

LEADERSHIP / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serve as President of the Student Senate, overseeing legislation and coordinating across five standing committees.

2. Serve as Student Government’s primary representative to the University’s Alumni Association and Leadership Advisory Council.

3. Chair the Student Fee Allocation Committee, a student-led committee tasked with reviewing funding requests and submitting recommendations for the allocation of mandatory student fees.

4. Collaborate with the executive leadership team to executive strategic campaign initiatives.
